Database
The present knowledge says
that training and testing of prediction algorithms needs a high number of
cases, higher that any single hospital can afford by itself. The building up of
a European Epilepsy Database is then an important step towards a basic
infrastructure for seizure prediction studies and other neurological research.
It will be started by EPILEPSIAE, namely by integrating the databases of the
three participating hospitals. The new distributed database will be accessible
in a transparent way by any authorized user anywhere. Information in the
database will be multimodal (EEG, ECG, functional images, medical reports,
patients records, etc.). Part of the information will be in the local language
(French, German, Portuguese). Search in the database, principally in the text
fields, will use dictionaries and semantic mining approaches.
